Université de Poitiers (France)
The University of Poitiers has an elaborate history, dating back to its founding days in 1431. It quickly reached a high reputation, being considered the second most important University in France after Paris and having produced many well-known graduates like René Descartes and Francois Rabelais. This history can be seen in the rich and diversified heritage until today, as there are private mansions dating from the 15th century as well as modern and energy-efficient buildings on the grounds. Currently the University of Poitiers serves more than 26,000 students in addition to the students from the faculty of FHW who can study Political Sciences and Civics in this history-charged but modern University.
